For Schools
1. Project Overview
The Anti-Bullying Project: Transforming School Culture From the Inside-Out
A complete, three-phase bullying prevention initiative for middle schools, built around the books Bullies, Blaze, and Bravery and Venturing Together: Empowering Students to Succeed. It is aligned with all five CASEL competencies.
Phase 1 — The Books
All students read Bullies, Blaze, and Bravery during the weeks leading up to the project launch. The book becomes a shared literary foundation for the project, setting the stage for transforming fear into strength and building empathy and inclusion.
Teachers and administrative staff read Venturing Together during the weeks prior to project launch. The book becomes a shared approach to building improved relationships with students and identifying and building on their strengths.
Phase 2 — The Videos or Workshops
Choose either in-person, live workshops, or videos.
For students: This Inner-Strength Workshop and video speaks to students about how to activate your inner strength, choose resilience under peer pressure, and do your part to create a school environment of belonging and inclusion.
For staff: This training workshop and video invites teachers to experience increased job satisfaction and reduced stress by implementing the strengths-based approach found in Venturing Together. It also suggests effective ways to begin implementing the book’s concepts.
Phase 3 — The Project
A turnkey Social Emotional Learning (SEL) curriculum where students share experiences and ideas, write personal stories, and collaborate to produce one short video per class with actionable ideas for reducing bullying in their school.
Program Outcomes
Students develop self-management, student voice and agency, belonging, and growth mindset — competencies that prevent bullying from the inside out and build lasting school culture change.
Funding
The School Site License — which includes the two videos, the desired number of copies of each book, and permanent digital curriculum access — falls within the award range of Title IV-A, Title I, state bullying prevention allocations, and SEL foundation grants. It can be funded as a single line item in most grant budgets.
Program cost available upon request.
2. Funding Alignment
The School Site License falls within the award range of most available education grants and can be funded as a single line item — no complex cost-sharing required.
Qualifying funding streams include:
Title IV-A — Student Support and Academic Enrichment grants fund programs that improve school climate, reduce bullying, and build SEL competencies.
Title I — Supports whole-child programs including social-emotional development and school safety for high-need populations.
State Bullying Prevention Allocations — Most states distribute dedicated bullying prevention funding through their Departments of Education. This program’s CASEL-aligned structure meets standard documentation requirements.
School Safety and Climate Grants — Federal and state grants increasingly prioritize proactive, culture-building approaches. This program’s focus on student voice, agency, and belonging positions it strongly.
Foundation Grants — The program’s alignment with all five CASEL competencies makes it a strong candidate for SEL-focused foundation funding.
A note on cost: Most Social Emotional Learning (SEL) and school safety grants have minimum thresholds of $5,000–$25,000. The School Site License is priced within these ranges, making full program funding straightforward.
